Our Story

Missy's Tatch Pub was closed in 1978 when the owners  built a new bar and singing lounge on a green field site next door. Works had commenced on the new place in 1977 and opened as the Cashel Lounge in May 1978 with very busy weekends dancing to local live bands.

The Costello family ran the Cashel Lounge until 1994 when they decided to retire. They sold it to Joe Scanlon who was from Co. Clare, who worked as a Head Chef in Embassy Rooms in Sligo City. Joe took on the task of changing it from a bar and signing lounge to a bar and restaurant called Dartry House.

Joe did a wonderful job in creating a restaurant business from zero and ran it very successfully until he sold it unto a local family in 2000 who also ran it for 2 years more. The present owners who bought it in 2002 did some cosmetic changes (stone cladding to the front) and leased it to an Indian family who ran it as a Monsoon Valley Indian restaurant until Christmas 2007.

In January 2008, work commenced on a total refurbishment which increased the floor area by 50% and opened on 29th of May 2008. That was the weekend 'Henrys was born'.

Henry’s Bar & Restaurant lies beneath' Bare Benbulben's Head' and the Cashel lookout point where Cashelgarron derives its name from.
